It is possible to perform prenatal DNA testing using an amniotic fluid sample or a CVS sample, however, these are invasive procedures which carry a risk to the child. If you are interested in proceeding with this type of test, you must arrange for an appointment with your Physician or Obstetrician. Unless you are already scheduled for a CVS or Amniocentesis for medical reasons and wish to use the same sample for DNA testing, it is recommended to perform the DNA test after the child is born. This can be done on the day of birth using a painless mouth swab kit.
