Does the mother need to be tested in a paternity test?

Testing of the Mother is optional if it is known that she is the biological mother of the child. The test is absolutely conclusive even if the mother is not tested.

In some rare special situations such as if mutations are present, or if the alleged fathers are relatives, testing of the mother may be recommended.
