Clients have obtained samples from individuals living correctional facilities by:
- requesting permission from the correctional facility to collect the samples themselves, such as during visitation;
- requesting the medical staff at the facility perform the collection; or
- obtaining a forensic sample for the individual residing in the correctional facility.
Any DNA sample submitted for testing that is not a mouth swab from our collection kit is considered a "Forensic Sample" and will include a Forensic Fee. For more information please see our FAQ on Forensic Samples.
In the event it is not possible to obtain a DNA sample from the individual directly, it is possible to test other relatives such as Siblings or Grandparents to determine a likelihood of relatedness. If you have specific questions related to your situation please contact our Client Service Team.
